This lesson was exactly what I needed. I want to draw closer to Jesus, to feel that fervent desire to serve him and tell others about him. In order to do that, I will have to abide in Him daily and pray that He will stir my heart and motivate me to action.
When God stirs His people to action, He enables them to accomplish great things. Be sensitive to the work of God in your heart and always be ready to rise up and do what He stirs you to do. “It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13)
God stirs our heart and awakens real zeal. The desire to serve comes through the workings of the Holy Spirit. If our zeal for service must come from the Lord, how can we get that zeal in our lives? Jesus said “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except you abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my works abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples” (John 15:4-8)
How can we abide in Jesus?
1. Meditate upon His words. (Read your bible daily!)
2. Keep in touch through prayer. (Pray, Pray, Pray! Daily!)
3. Live in obedience to His teachings. (Put his word in your heart so you know what to do!)
Sunday School is so important. I hope to see everyone there next Sunday!
